 During January 2010 Canaan Valley Resort and other individual resorts representing 32 states are encouraging children and adults, new to snow sports, to take a lesson and those already involved to "bring a friend". Programs include alpine skiing, snowboarding, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing.

Children Lessons
Canaan Cub Club
The Canaan Cub Club is the perfect place for your children to learn how to ski with kids their own age and ability. They can learn in a fun, safe and enjoyable environment. The children will learn to move through the snow with qualified instructors. Includes lift tickets, rental and lessons. Space in class is limited; please call ahead for availability, and details.

Mountain Adventure
This is for the Children who are ready for an all mountain adventure with a qualified instructor. They will have lessons in the morning and afternoon, with time to practice and have lunch in-between. Requirements:
- Reservations are strongly encouraged. Availability of instructors is limited.
- A cancellation fee of $50 will be applied to guest's credit card with less than a 24 hour notice.
- Parents are encouraged to read the CAP Model
- Lessons meet at the Children's Ski & Ride School check-in desk located on the first floor of the Ski School Building.
- All students must purchase a lift ticket and rental (unless otherwise stated).
- The use of helmets (especially for children) is highly recommended for the safety of the child. Rental helmets are available at the Children's Ski & Ride School office. Our retail store also carries children and adult helmets for purchase.
- All children must be potty trained.
- Afternoon half days are not available.
Private Lessons
Private skiing or snowboarding lessons are available from one of our top instructors. Learn how to ski or ride and enjoy a great winter activity. Sharpen those skills that may be giving you a little trouble. Lesson times: 9am, 10:15am, 12pm, 1:15pm, and 2:30pm.
Private (1 Hour): $65.00
Ski: Ages 3 and up
Snowboard: Ages 8 and up

Group Lessons
Learn how to ski or ride in our group lessons which are designed to offer individuals the opportunity to learn with other individuals. Learn how to move through the snow in a Safe, Fun environment, stopping, turning with others. Classes meet at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm. Register/check-in at the Ski & Ride School desk at least one hour before class time.

Advanced Lessons
This is for the Skier and Rider who is ready to move up in the sport or just needs a refresher to feel comfortable out on the hill. The advanced lesson will go out on the hill with a qualified instructor who will bring out the best in you.

Advanced Airboard Lessons
For the person who is ready to take on more of the mountain. Ride from midstation down. An advanced airboard lesson is required for an advanced license. *Riders must be age 16 - older to take the advanced airboard class.

Kids Airboard Adventure Program
The Canaan Kids Airboarding Adventure is the first of its kind. Your child will be able to slide down the beginner slopes on the airboard. They will have a certified instructor with them for instructions on the use ofthe airboard. The instructor will go over how to steer, stop, and the rules of hte mountain for all guest. This is for the hardy at heart who want to have safe fun on the mountain and to do something a little different than skiing and snowboarding.
The minimum age for this is 9 years old.
These are 1/2 day programs only
Winter boots are recommended for all children
