The Mountain Eagles, a non-profit charity based in South Carolina that provides opportunities for Americans to share their recreational resources with wounded or injured veterans and family members, will ski at Canaan Valley Resort this Friday (Feb. 4th).

“This “Gathering of Mountain Eagles” is an opportunity to provide unique, challenging and fun experiences for our wounded and ill veterans,” said Woody Aurentz, director of the Mountain Eagles. “We’ve been visiting Canaan Valley Resort since 2008 and we appreciate the one-on-one instruction and assistance their ski patrol and employees provide to us.”

Aurentz said the group promotes “adventure therapy”, which challenges military (active, reserve, National Guard, retired, service separated and selected associated) members and spouses with activities such as whitewater rafting, skiing, mountain biking, ropes courses, and golf to help in their physical and psychological recovery.

The group will arrive at Canaan Valley Resort on Thursday (Feb. 3rd) and enjoy skiing and tubing during the day on Friday. Twenty-four veterans from multiple surrounding states who are living with physical or mental injuries will participate.
