A moderate, 2 hour instructional hike, where we explore the trails, fields, and forests of Canaan Valley State Park, to see dozens of trees and plants, Mother Nature is growing, just for you!
You’ll learn tree and plant identification, which plants are safe to eat, and practice the plant edibility test that helps keep you from eating the wrong plants. Find out what plants make the best “survival salad” and learn to process the most edible leaves, shoots, roots and nuts. We’ll also show you the best plants and trees for starting fire, finding water, making rope, or healing a wound.
Ages 12 to Adult; youth must be accompanied by a paying adult. Bring water, rainwear, suitable outdoor clothes and sturdy boots/shoes. Conducted Rain or Shine.
