Our Recreation Center offers an array of energizing activities to help you find peace or excitement during your stay in the Valley. Whether you're feeling adventurous or a bit more reflective, we think you'll love the Recreation Center activities.
Discover the natural wonders of Canaan Valley Resort State Park with our family-friendly Kids Scavenger Hike! Designed for children ages 5–12, this self-guided adventure encourages young explorers to spot wildlife signs, unique trees, and natural treasures along trails like Blackwater River, Deer Run, or Cabin Trail.
Download the scavenger checklist below, grab your hiking shoes, and see how many wonders your family can find! Be sure to snap a photo of your adventure and share it with our Recreation Manager for a chance to be featured on our social media.
Discover cache prizes in the wild! Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game. All you need is a GPS and sense of adventure. GPS rentals and map coordinates are available at the Recreation Center.
How to play
- Visit the Recreation Center
- Get your GPS unit and map coordinates
- Search the property for our five hidden caches
- When you've found a cache, try to leave something behind for the next explorer
- Have fun!
Please note: A $20 GPS rental fee is required.
The Recreation Center offers bike rentals for you to tour 18 miles of marked trails through some of the region's most stunning scenery. Expect to see woodlands, streams, meadows, and wildlife. Happy trails! Open Daily 9:00 am to close.
